Trump: Miss Universe ‘Gained a Massive Amount of Weight and It Was a Real Problem’

September 27, 2016

Donald Trump defended himself Tuesday against one of Hillary Clinton’s talking points from the first debate by saying Alicia Machado, a Miss Universe Pageant winner, gained a significant amount of weight.

Trump called into Fox and Friends to recap the debate. When asked if Clinton ever got under his skin during the debate, Trump brought up the Democratic nominee’s comments against him about the former Miss Universe Pageant winner.

"No, not at all. I didn’t see it that way. At the end, maybe, the very last question, when she brought up the person that became—I know that person, that person was a Miss Universe person, and she was the worst we ever had," Trump said.

During the debate Clinton claimed, "He loves beauty contests, supporting them and hanging around them–and he called this woman ‘Miss Piggy,’ then he called her ‘Miss Housekeeping’ because she was Latina."

Trump defended his statements about Machado, saying, "You know, she gained a massive amount of weight, and it was a real problem."

"Not only that," Trump continued, "she has a real attitude."

Machado reportedly gained 60 pounds after winning the Miss Universe Pageant, and Trump urged her to lose weight at the time.
