President Donald Trump will host a rally in Pennsylvania on the night of April 29, the same time as the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

The president announced the rally on his Twitter account over the weekend, Variety reported.

"Next Saturday night I will be holding a BIG rally in Pennsylvania. Look forward to it!" Trump tweeted.

Trump and the White House staff have been public about their plans to skip the annual event hosted by the White House Correspondents' Association, which is meant to celebrate journalists and show respect for the presidency. Generally a comedian hosts the dinner. This year the performer will be Hasan Minhaj, who has previously said Trump is "white ISIS."

The feud between the current administration and the media has been an ongoing issue, with President Trump frequently referring to certain outlets as "fake news."

Trump will be the first president to miss the event since Ronald Reagan phoned into the dinner in 1981 while recovering from an assassination attempt.
