President Donald Trump responded on Twitter Thursday morning to claims by Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D., N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) that they made a deal with the president to make DACA law without building a border wall.
Schumer and Pelosi issued a statement Wednesday night following their White House dinner with the president, claiming Trump agreed to support legislation that would "enshrine the protections of DACA" while working out a package for border security, "excluding the wall."
Trump contended on Twitter early Thursday that the Democratic leaders' claims were untrue.
"No deal was made last night on DACA. Massive border security would have to be agreed to in exchange for consent. Would be subject to vote," Trump tweeted.

White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders also rejected the Democrats' premise, tweeting Wednesday night, "While DACA and border security were both discussed, excluding the wall was certainly not agreed to."

Trump further tweeted about the border wall, one of his core promises to his base during the 2016 presidential campaign. The president denied claims he was walking away from building the wall, saying,"The WALL, which is already under construction in the form of new renovation of old and existing fences and walls, will continue to be built."

Trump added that he does support the basic tenants of DACA, and questioned if anybody would "really want to throw out good, educated and accomplished youg people who have jobs, some serving in the military?"
