Sonny Bunch Can't Blame Trump for Bringing Up Hole-in-One Story

February 24, 2017

Washington Free Beacon executive editor Sonny Bunch said Friday morning on Fox News' "Red Eye" that he cannot blame President Donald Trump for bringing up the prior day his story of getting a hole-in-one while golfing.

"Red Eye" host Tom Shillue played a clip of Trump hosting the chief executive of General Electric, Jeff Immelt, at the White House, where the two discussed U.S. manufacturing. At the meeting, Trump told the story of how Immelt once saw him get a hole-in-one out on the golf course.

When asked about Trump's comment, Bunch said he would have done the same thing.

"First off, if I were to ever hit a hole-in-one in golf–I don't really golf, but if I were to hit a hole-in-one in golf–I would bring it into every conversation," Bunch said. "I'd be like, 'Yeah, you know, the trade deficit is pretty great, not as great as that one time I hit the hole-in-one.'"

Bunch then compared Trump to comic book character Bane, for having a wealthy executive tell the story of when he hit a hole-in-one.
