Sanders Laughs at Clinton Clip Saying He Didn't Show Her Respect: 'Wow ... I Worked as Hard as I Could' for Her

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) laughed and shook his head Sunday after seeing a clip of Hillary Clinton suggesting he didn't do all he could to get her elected, saying he worked as hard as possible.

After a bruising Democratic primary campaign where the far-left Sanders castigated Clinton for her Wall Street ties, Sanders ultimately endorsed her and campaigned for her election bid against Donald Trump.

"Meet The Press" host Chuck Todd played a clip of Clinton on "The View" this week saying that she told her supporters in 2008 to stop complaining and support then Sen. Barack Obama after he beat her in that year's primary, but she did not get the same "respect" from Sanders after he lost to her.

Sanders shook his head and laughed scathingly when Todd relayed Clinton felt Sanders "didn't work hard enough" to bring his supporters into the fold for her.

"Do you accept that criticism?" Todd asked.

"Wow," Sanders said. "No, I really don't."

Repeating an earlier phrase in response to Clinton criticism that it's not useful to look backwards, Sanders insisted he worked "as hard as I could" to beat Trump.

"I went all over this country, and I would remind people, you know, people say, 'Well, not everybody who voted for Bernie ended up voting for Hillary.' No kidding!" Sanders said. "That's what happens in politics."

Clinton, who is promoting her book What Happened that delves into her election loss, has blamed a variety of factors for her defeat, but she reserved particularly stinging commentary for Sanders. Reminding readers that he's not a Democrat, she ripped him in the book for his personal attacks against her and told NPR he's "not supporting Democrats now."
