A Nevada man called out Vice President Joe Biden on Monday for pushing a minimum wage hike that the man said would hurt already struggling small businesses.
The Las Vegas resident spoke to Biden during a campaign to increase the federal minimum wage to $10.10 an hour--a move the man said will pose a legitimate problem.
"Everybody should make at least 10," the man said. "But it's not so easy because, see, we're not talking $10.10, after you pay taxes and FICA and everything, I mean, we're talking like $15."
The man said that in Las Vegas, many workers make tips and, therefore, it would be preferable to keep tip-earning workers on a lower pay grade than workers that do not earn tips to avoid putting unnecessary strain on small businesses.
"Right now it's very hard for a small business to make it, and everybody knows," the man said.
