Here's What to Expect from Chris Matthews' Interview of Obama

December 4, 2013

When MSNBC host Chris Matthews last interviewed then-Sen. Barack Obama in 2008 at West Chester University, a truly good time was had by all.

Matthews covered such weighty topics surrounding Obama's race for the presidency like bowling, smoking, smiling faces, how "everything was ethnic this year" and whether the adoring fans in the crowd were registered to vote.

Now, the two will meet again Thursday night for an interview at American University in Washington, as part of the "Hardball College Tour."

Matthews, who worked for former Democratic Speaker of the House Tip O'Neill and has mentioned that fact just a few times on Hardball, has referred to Obama as the "perfect American," considered him a worthy candidate for Mt. Rushmore, and once felt a thrill up his leg because of a speech Obama gave.
