Robert Gibbs offered some common sense solutions to the Secret Service debate Thursday, suggesting the White House build a taller fence.
Gibbs, who served as President Obama’s first press secretary, appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe and said Secret Service Director Julia Pierson should have resigned weeks ago amid an series of scandals.
During the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hearing Tuesday, Pierson said 116 people have climbed over the White House fence in the past five years, including Omar Gonzalez on Sept. 19.
"Now, I’m not a security expert and I’m not trying to be flippant, but the first thing I would do is build a bigger fence," Gibbs said.
A Morning Joe co-host said the White House fence is considered a historic artifact and cannot be altered.
