'Fox & Friends' Host: Clinton's Aides Told Me Not Appearing on the Show Was 'One of Her Biggest Mistakes'

October 13, 2017

A co-host of "Fox and Friends" said Friday that Hillary Clinton aides told her one of Clinton's "biggest mistakes" was not coming on the program during her 2016 campaign.

During an interview with gossip author Ed Klein, Ainsley Earhardt said "Fox & Friends" repeatedly reached out to Clinton to appear and she missed out on an opportunity to reach independent voters, Mediaite reports.

"We asked her time and time again to come on our show, and she refused to do it," she said. "And some of her people, the people that have worked for her a long time that I’m friends with, have said that was one of her biggest mistakes, because we have a lot of independents that watch our show, and she could have gotten some of those votes."

The strongly conservative program is one of President Donald Trump's favorites and he has frequently retweeted segments from the show's official account. It has long dominated its time slot against cable news competitors "New Day" on CNN and "Morning Joe" on MSNBC.

Clinton did make appearances on Fox during the 2016 campaign cycle, including a lengthy interview with "Fox News Sunday" host Chris Wallace last July after she accepted the Democratic nomination.
