Fox, CNN Ask Tim Scott Different Questions on Senate Appointment

Fox concerned with ideology of Senate appointee, CNN almost solely asks about race

Rep. Tim Scott (R., S.C.) was the subject of two interviews conducted Wednesday morning with Fox News and CNN about his recent appointment to Sen. Jim DeMint's seat, but the line of questioning by the channels was very different, with the former concerned more about policy and the latter about race.

Fox News host Steve Doocy's questioning covered topics including fiscal cliff negotiations, Washington's spending problems and Scott's ideological similarities and differences with DeMint.

CNN's Soledad O'Brien asked Scott five questions about race, including why Gov. Nikki Haley felt the need to say Scott "earned" his appointment and if that had to do with him being African American, and what Republicans should do to earn more minority support. She ended the interview with a question about gun control in light of the Newtown shooting.
