Republican National Committee spokeswoman and former CNN contributor Kayleigh McEnany said in a recent interview that the network told her to lay off criticizing then-presidential candidate Hillary Clinton during the 2016 Democratic National Convention.

In the February 2018 issue of The Limbaugh Letter, McEnany sat down with conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh to discuss her new book and her time as a pro-Trump pundit for CNN at the height of the 2016 election.

"Did they treat you with respect off-camera?" asked Limbaugh of CNN.

"Off-camera, yes," she said. "But look, I was told before the Democratic National Convention: 'Make sure to give Hillary her moment.'"

"What does that mean, 'give Hillary her moment'?" asked Limbaugh.

"Give her 'her moment' as the first female nominee of the Democratic Party, soon-to-be-first female President, in the eyes of many at CNN. I had to be silent at that," she said. "Was anyone told, 'Give Donald Trump his moment' at the Republican Convention? Who knows, but I didn't see it."

McEnany complained that Clinton was "shrouded with respect, and the opposition party, Donald Trump, was not."
