Liberals declared on social media that they were positive President Donald Trump was guilty of obstructing justice after watching former FBI Director James Comey testify on Thursday.

Comey testified before the Senate Intelligence Committee about the FBI investigation into Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election, among other issues. The media had hyped up expectations in the days leading up to the hearing that Comey's testimony would be "blockbuster," "explosive" and called it a "political super bowl."

Comey revealed during his testimony that he provided his friend Columbia professor Dan Richman with written memos describing his conversations with Trump, expecting that Richman would leak them to the media. In the memos, Comey recalled a conversation of Trump saying he hoped Comey would "let go" the investigation into former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn.

During his testimony, Comey said Trump did not explicitly ask him to drop the investigation into Russia.

"Did the president at any time ask you to stop the FBI investigation into Russian involvement in the U.S. 2016 elections?" Sen. Richard Burr (R., N.C.) asked.

"Not to my understanding, no," Comey said.

"Did any individual working for this administration, including the Justice Department, ask you to stop the Russian investigation?" Burr asked.

"No," Comey said.

Comey was explicitly asked if he believed Trump committed obstruction of justice.

"In your estimation, was General Flynn at that time in serious legal jeopardy, and, in addition to that, do you sense that the president was trying to obstruct justice or just seek for a way for Mike Flynn to save face, given he had already been fired?" Burr asked.

"I don't think it's for me to say whether the conversation I had with the president was an effort to obstruct," Comey said. "I took it as a very disturbing thing, very concerning. But that's a conclusion I'm sure the special counsel will work towards to try and understand what the intention was there, and whether that's an offense."

Comey also testified that Trump didn't slow down the investigation into Flynn.

Liberals on social media were still adamant that Trump committed obstruction of justice.
