CNN on Tuesday touted Hillary Clinton’s growing partnership with Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D., Mass.) on the campaign trail to attack Donald Trump after the two appeared together at a rally the prior day.
Host Carol Costello described Clinton and Warren "acting like the best of friends" Monday at their joint campaign rally in Cincinnati, Ohio, before correspondent Jeanne Moos did a segment showing the two Democratic politicians coming closer together.
"Arms around each other, an affectionate squeeze, Hillary Clinton and Elizabeth Warren were practically dancing together," Moos said. "They hugged offstage to say goodbye and hugged onstage for the introduction. We haven’t seen a political public display of affection like that since [Al Gore kissed his wife at the 2000 Democratic National Convention]."
Warren made her debut on the campaign trail by giving an enthusiastic speech in support of Clinton after endorsing her earlier this month. The Massachusetts senator also called Donald Trump a "thin-skinned bully who is driven by greed and hate" and "goofy" for wearing his trademark "Make America Great Again" hat while answering questions from reporters.
Moos said Clinton and Warren were accused of wearing matching blue pantsuits at the rally, although the suits appeared closer in color on television than in person.
"Elizabeth Warren was like a cheerleader on steroids," Moos said. "Let’s give these two a hand for all the times they gave each other a hand."
Moos then played multiple clips of Warren applauding Clinton at the campaign rally, telling the crowd that she supports the presumptive Democratic nominee.
"Is it possible to clap your way to the vice presidency?" Moos asked.
Warren’s name has been floated as a possible running mate for Clinton to help gain the support of progressives in the Democratic Party, many of whom have supported Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.).
