CNN’s Brooke Baldwin called out Hillary Clinton surrogate Bernard Whitman on Friday for trying to blame the State Department system for Clinton’s email practices.
"I actually think that it’s an indictment of the system that the State Department clearly had," Whitman said. "Unfortunately, over the years–"
Baldwin cut in.
"But are you going to–the system?" she asked. "I mean, it doesn’t look good."
Whitman continued to defend Clinton by saying that this story has already been investigated intensely.
"The fact of the matter is, this has been investigated ad nauseum," he said. "There is–Hillary Clinton even said, ‘Is there smoke? Yeah, there’s smoke, but there is no fire here. We need to move on to the actual real issues–’"
He then said he would not elect Clinton for CTO, presumably meaning chief technology officer, but he would elect her for commander in chief.
Boris Epshteyn, a Donald Trump surrogate, interjected to argue that Clinton’s tenure as secretary of state should disqualify her from being president.
"We just had the information on Iran come out," he said. "That deal had secret clauses which allowed Iran to keep uranium. She was a terrible secretary of state. But, she couldn’t even follow the rules."
Epshteyn likened Clinton to a teacher. He said that if there was a teacher who broke all of the rules, no one would elect that teacher to become the principal of the school.
Whitman ended the segment with a dig at Trump, saying he will be "defeated for the presidency" in November.
