CNN Calls Out Coons for Speculating About Trump Meetings

CNN host Wolf Blitzer pushed back against Sen. Chris Coons (D., Del.) on Monday for speculating that President Donald Trump's senior campaign officials may have had other meetings with Russian officials outside of Trump Tower.

Blitzer asked Coons about Donald Trump Jr.'s meeting with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya last June at Trump Tower and what issues the meeting raises even if he did not receive damaging information on Hillary Clinton, which he expected, according to the New York Times.

Coons said that senior Trump campaign officials meeting with a Russian source to get compromising information on Clinton suggested that they were "routinely seeking" these types of sources.

"It is just one indication, as Sen. [Mark] Warner said, the first public indication that meetings of this sort may have happened, not just this one time in Trump Tower, but in other times and other places," Coons said.

Blitzer pushed back against Coons' claim by saying that the senator did not know whether there have been multiple meetings, prompting him to admit he was only guessing.

"You're just speculating, right?" Blitzer asked.

"I am just speculating at this point. That's right," Coons said.
