"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski's distaste for President Donald Trump has been evident to anyone who has tuned into the MSNBC program during his administration. Her antipathy is such that she shook off wishing him a "Happy Birthday" on Wednesday.
Trump turned 71 on Wednesday. He made an off-hand reference to his upcoming birthday during a meeting Tuesday with Republican lawmakers at the White House, which was spoofed by NBC late-night host Jimmy Fallon.
Scarborough, who knew Trump for a decade before his presidential run, is also a vociferous critic of the president but wished Trump a "Happy Birthday" while Brzezinski made a slight grimace.
"Seventy-one today, and about as energetic, more energetic than many people would wish, but Happy Birthday, Mr. President," Scarborough said.
Scarborough gestured to Brzezinski and told Brzezinski to do the same, but she shook her head.
She joked that panelist Mike Barnicle was going to do Marilyn Monroe's breathy version of the birthday song that she sang for John F. Kennedy, but Barnicle declined.
"I didn't want to see that," she said.
