American Action Forum President Doug Holtz-Eakin discussed the high costs of premiums for young adults under Obamacare and the ramifications those high premiums have for the law's implementation in a new video.
The administration need to recruit 2.7 million uninsured 18-35 year-olds. The premiums under Obamacare for these "young invincibles" showed an explosive rise in premium prices, Holtz-Eakin said.
A healthy 30-year-old male who doesn't smoke would see an average increase in the exchanges of 260 percent. In all 50 states, it would be more expensive.
As the Jan. 1, 2014 deadline when all Americans are required to have health insurance, the young people will choose between paying for the skyrocketing premiums or taking the individual penalty. Without the "young invincibles" buying into the exchanges, there will be nothing to keep costs down to make up for the older and sicker people getting insured.
