New York Times political correspondent Jonathan Martin said President Obama's response to the Ebola crisis is yet another example that the president is not running a competent government.
"This is a gift wrap issue for the GOP," Martin told CNN's John King. "This is one more example that they can cite to point out that President Obama has not run a competent federal government."
Martin said although the Ebola crisis was certainly a "visceral" issue, it is part of a larger range of issues facing the Obama administration--including the Ukraine and Islamic State crises--that give Americans the sense that the "world is coming undone."
"For Republicans, they simply have to point and say 'competence or chaos?'" Martin said. "That's a pretty compelling message in a year that, structurally, is good for them anyway."
