2021 Man of the Year: Brandon Brown

December 31, 2021

EDITOR'S NOTE: After the Man of the Year selection process had concluded, the New York Times reported that a spokesman for Brandon Brown had "reached out" to the radical left-wing publication to arrange an interview. This award is currently under review until we can figure out what is going on.

Real men desire to be good at sports. Among other things, it's one of the most reliable ways to avoid a career in journalism. All great men desire not only to be good at sports but also to leave behind a legacy that will echo in eternity. Brandon Brown didn't just win his first NASCAR race in 2021, he also cemented himself as perhaps the most consequential figure of Joe Biden's failed presidency.

If history remembers Joe Biden at all, it will be as a superfluous footnote: the old geezer who served as president, at least nominally, between Donald Trump's first and second terms in office. Also as the father of Hunter Biden, a notorious criminal who was finally brought to justice in the lame-duck period between Trump's fourth term and Ivanka's first.

The name Brandon will, by contrast, never be forgotten. Thanks to Brown's improbable victory on that humid autumn night in Talladega, an enduring slogan has been woven into our national tapestry. "F— Joe Biden!" the patriotic crowd chanted in unison as an obnoxious reporter interrogated Brown about his win. "You can hear the chants from the crowd: 'Let's go, Brandon,'" the filthy journalist lied. And the rest, as they say, is history.

"Let's go, Brandon" is in many ways the perfect meme, not least because the journos and the libs will never understand it. Their pathetic attempt to turn #ThankYouBrandon into a trending hashtag celebrating Biden's so-called accomplishments was a case study in mental illness and missing the point. They are hopelessly out of touch with people like Brandon Brown, those NASCAR fans in Talladega, and other average Americans who buy milk at the grocery store, pump their own gas, and love America.

The truly sad part is the libs don't even like Joe Biden. He was simply the only electable candidate in a field of Ivy League nerds who will never be president. They can't relate to Biden either, apart from the fact that he knows at least one black guy who went to Harvard. They know his presidency is a failure, they wish their fellow citizens would stop trying to enjoy themselves, and they wish they had been good at sports in high school. Cry more, libs.

Let's go, Brandon! You're a Washington Free Beacon Man of the Year.
