U.S. authorities on the southern border have apprehended an Iranian citizen crossing into Texas for the fourth time this month.
The Iranians are considered "special interest aliens" because the U.S. government designates Iran a supporter of terrorism.
The latest capture of an Iranian came Sunday, when a 40-year-old man was apprehended in Eagle Pass, Texas, after illegally crossing the border, Customs and Border Protection told Fox News.
The development comes amid speculation about Iran's involvement in the Hamas attacks on Israel last week. The Iranian government threatened Israel last week to stop its retaliation against Hamas before "it's too late." Hamas and Iranian leaders met this weekend, adding to worries that the conflict could spread across the Middle East.
A House report earlier this month alleged that the Biden administration's failures on the southern border have resulted in "virtually no enforcement of our immigration law."
