CBS Compares Ivanka Trump to Hillary Clinton on Equal Pay Stance

July 22, 2016

CBS This Morning on Friday compared Ivanka Trump’s talking points on equal pay for women during her speech Thursday night at the Republican National Convention to those used by Hillary Clinton throughout her presidential campaign.

Ivanka, Donald Trump’s oldest daughter, introduced the Republican nominee before his speech at the RNC. She touted her father’s real estate accomplishments before adding that he believes in "equal pay for equal work."

This is not a new talking point for Donald Trump, who has previously said individuals should receive equal pay for the same job regardless of gender.

CBS pointed out the similarities between Hillary Clinton’s equal pay platform and Ivanka’s speech, saying the latter sounded like the Democratic nominee’s past comments.

The television program showed a clip of Clinton saying, "I want to make sure women get equal pay for they work they do."

This comparison comes off the heels of Trump’s wife Melania being accused of plagiarizing her RNC speech from Michelle Obamas’s 2008 address at the Democratic National Convention.
