Amnesty International Rejects Campaign to Fight Anti-Semitism

Amnesty International members rejected a resolution to combat a spike in anti-Semitic attacks in Britain, according to the Jewish Chronicle.

The motion was defeated at the organization’s annual meeting by a vote of 468 to 461, according to the report.

Amnesty International Spokesman Neil Durkin attempted to downplay the vote when reached by the Jewish Chornicle.

"After a really interesting debate where everyone condemned discrimination against all ethnic and religious groups, our membership decided not to pass this resolution calling for a campaign with a single focus," Durkin was quoted as saying.

"Amnesty International fights against discrimination in all its forms, and will continue to do so," he said, adding, "Amnesty UK's Board, which supported the resolution, will be considering the outcome of the vote at their next meeting."
