Get Ready for Electro-Mechanical Triggers

November 7, 2014

It appears that real guns are finally starting to catch up to their Call of Duty equivalents. Or, at least, real firing mechanisms might be with the introduction of electro-mechanical triggers.

The new system, developed by a company called Creative Digital, uses "a solenoid directed by a computer processors," Guns.com reported. That allows the shooter to change the triggers configuration on the fly. They can go from semi-automatic to burst-fire to automatic with the press of button. More impressive is the fact that the shooter can also change the rate of fire.

The trigger also features a mechanical backup in case the electronics go down.

The company says they're hoping to use the trigger in both military and civilian guns soon. However, the civilian version won't feature the automatic fire features.
