University of Pennsylvania President Liz Magill has "tendered her resignation" from her position, according to a message sent on Saturday by the chair of the institution's board of trustees.

Magill was one of three top university presidents under fire over dissatisfaction with their testimony at a congressional hearing about antisemitism on college campuses. Magill during the hearing repeatedly argued that calls for "intifada" against Jews were protected by academic freedom, prompting one donor to pull a $100 million gift from the school.

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R., N.Y.) said Magill's resignation is "only the very beginning of addressing the pervasive rot of antisemitism that has destroyed the most 'prestigious' higher education institutions in America."

"One down. Two to go," Stefanik wrote in a statement, referencing the leaders of Harvard University and MIT who testified alongside Magill. "These universities can anticipate a robust and comprehensive congressional investigation of all facets of their institutions' negligent perpetration of antisemitism including administrative, faculty, funding, and overall leadership and governance."
