The USS Zumwalt, the Navy's first stealth destroyer, will soon complete the installation of its combat system and be ready for active duty, according to Defense News.
Originally commissioned in 2016, the Zumwalt has been described as "the largest and most technologically advanced surface combatant in the world," featuring "the latest war fighting technology and weaponry available." Its imminent entry into the U.S. fleet is great news for fans of American military supremacy and bad news for the enemies of freedom.
But the Navy wasn't done bringing good news. In addition to welcoming this advanced weapon of war into its ranks, the Navy is delivering much-needed medical resources to New York City, which has suffered one of the worst coronavirus outbreaks in the country. The USNS Comfort, a Navy hospital ship that delivers humanitarian aid around the world, sailed into New York Harbor on Monday to the delight of Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D.) and other state leaders.

The ship will help to ease the burden on the city's health care system by providing care to patients not infected with the coronavirus. President Donald J. Trump described the Comfort as a "70,000-ton message of hope and solidarity to the incredible people of New York."

The Comfort's arrival in New York might have come as a surprise to some—MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, for example, who on March 20 dismissed as "nonsense" the idea that Navy hospital ships would "be anywhere on-site helping out anywhere in the country for weeks yet."
