The great-grandson of William Howard Taft, the rotund former president alleged to have gotten stuck in the White House bathtub, endorsed Kamala Harris on Wednesday.

William Howard Taft IV, a Republican national security staffer who served under Presidents George W. Bush and George H.W. Bush, was among the more than 100 former GOP officials who signed a letter denouncing Donald Trump as "unfit to serve" and "susceptible to flattery." This is the third consecutive presidential election in which Taft IV has opposed Trump's candidacy and backed his Democratic opponent.

Unlike his great-grandfather, who boasted an epic mustache and was the last president to have facial hair, the Taft scion is clean-shaven and is not morbidly obese. Taft IV, 79, prepared at St. Paul's School in New Hampshire, earned a bachelor's degree from Yale, and a law degree from Harvard. He represents one of the most unlikely demographics to support Trump over Harris.

Other signatories to the Harris endorsement letter include Wendell Lewis Wilkie II, the grandson of failed Republican presidential candidate Wendell Lewis Wilkie. The Wilkie scion served as deputy secretary of the Department of Commerce during the George H.W. Bush administration. He is a graduate of Harvard College, Oxford University, and the University of Chicago Law School.
