The House Oversight Committee will reportedly hold the first impeachment inquiry hearing into President Joe Biden's alleged corruption next Thursday.
The hearing will review existing evidence and is unlikely to break any new ground, Fox News reported.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.), who last week announced the inquiry, has directed Oversight Committee chairman James Comer (R., Ky.) to lead the investigation along with Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) and Ways and Means chairman Jason Smith (R., Mo.).
Comer reportedly plans to subpoena the bank records of Joe Biden's son Hunter and brother James to illuminate the president's potential involvement in his family's foreign business dealings.
Jordan has also requested a number of documents from the Justice Department's investigation of Hunter Biden and an interview with David Weiss, who was recently appointed special counsel for the ongoing probe.
While Democrats have criticized Hunter Biden's "improper" behavior, they have maintained that Joe Biden is free of any wrongdoing.
Multiple former Hunter Biden business partners, however, have stated that the president was involved in his son's dealings with a Chinese energy company.
Former Hunter Biden associate Devon Archer stated in testimony to Congress last month that Joe Biden attended a dinner with a Burisma executive and that Hunter Biden called his father more than 20 times during business meetings.
