Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton (R.) praised Attorney General Jeff Sessions Friday for sending judges and prosecutors to the U.S.-Mexico border in response to an immigrant caravan that arrived last Sunday.
Sessions sent 35 assistant U.S. attorneys and 18 immigration judges to the border to process cases and "prosecute illegal entries into our country," ABC News reported.
"We are not going to let this country be overwhelmed," Sessions said Wednesday. "People are not going to caravan or otherwise stampede our border."
Cotton praised Sessions' action as upholding the rule of law.
"No one has the right to break our laws and enter our country illegally. To allow such crimes to go unprosecuted would create chaos along the border and undermine the very rule of law that allows our country to flourish," he said in a statement.
"Sending more judges and prosecutors to the border will allow them to ensure a fair and full enforcement of our laws, and the attorney general is right to give this issue the attention it deserves," Cotton added.
