Hollywood filmmaker Joss Whedon tweeted he wanted Donald Trump to "just quietly die" on Tuesday night, saying the president "is killing this country."
The Avengers director added in his tweet that his "hate and sadness" at the country's state were exhausting him.
'Donald [Trump] is killing this country," he wrote. "Some of it quickly, some slowly, but he spoils and destroys everything he touches. He emboldens monsters, wielding guns, governmental power, or just smug doublespeak. Or Russia. My hate and sadness are exhausting. Die, Don. Just quietly die."

Whedon is known for making eyebrow raising statements and tweets about Republican officials. Last year, he tweeted he wanted a rhino to "fuck @SpeakerRyan to death with its horn." In 2012, he said in a comedy video that Mitt Romney winning the presidency would bring about a zombie apocalypse.
Whedon worked hard to defeat Trump in the 2016 election, starting a super PAC called "Save The Day" and saying on MSNBC that Trump was a "scary monster." The PAC produced a video of liberal celebrities urging voters to defeat Trump.
