A now-deleted tweet from the U.S. embassy in Seoul, South Korea, touted the news Monday that actress Cynthia Nixon is running for governor of New York.
"Were you a big fan of "Sex and the City"? @CynthiaNixon, the actress who played #Miranda on the show, is running for governor of #NewYork!" the tweet said.
The tweet was posted at 10:22 p.m. Monday night but was deleted with no explanation.
Nixon, a longtime liberal activist and ally to New York Mayor Bill de Blasio, announced her bid for the Democratic nomination on Monday in a video discussing her desire to fix New York's ailing subway system, end mass incarceration and address health care issues.
She won an Emmy for her role as Miranda on "Sex and the City" in 2004, and she has also appeared in dozens of other television shows, movies and plays.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D.), a longtime rival of de Blasio, mocked the news of her potential celebrity bid for governor last week.
