Rep. Sean Duffy (R., Wis.) invited Ricky Taylor to President Donald Trump's upcoming State of the Union address after the Army veteran tweeted his desire to fill a seat that would be left vacant by a boycotting Democrat.
Taylor, who goes by the name "Deplorable Vet" on Twitter after former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s description of some Trump supporters as "a basket of deplorables," is a supporter of the president. After Rep. Maxine Water's (D., Calif.) announced she would boycott Trump's first State of the Union, Taylor tweeted at Fox News that he wanted to go to the State of the Union to "tell the President how much he means to myself, family, Military, and all of his supporters!"

Duffy and Taylor appeared together on "Fox & Friends" Thursday where Duffy was asked how the plan came about. Duffy said he was watching the show the day earlier when he found out about Taylor's story and request to attend the event on Jan. 30.
Duffy said he usually gives his ticket to his wife, but after hearing about the story, she said it would be great to give her ticket to Taylor.
He continued by saying that, no matter the party in power, it's an honor to be able to attend the State of the Union.
Taylor explained he "pretty much knew" he wouldn't receive a response from Waters, but is "really excited" to attend the event with the Wisconsin representative.
"I'm really excited, I mean I just got to talk to him for a little bit out there, and he seems like a really good guy–" Taylor said.
"He's great guy, by the way" Duffy interjected jocularly.
"I'm just really excited to do it," Taylor added, laughing.
Duffy added he was looking forward to taking Taylor out for dinner before the event.
