The Twitter account of CNN anchor Anderson Cooper responded with insults on Wednesday after President Donald Trump tweeted about having lacked faith in Roy Moore's chance of winning Alabama's Senate special election.

After Democrat Doug Jones was announced the winning in Alabama's election on Tuesday, Trump tweeted about why he didn't originally endorse Moore, and why it was the right decision. He said he originally endorsed Moore's Republican primary opponent Luther Strange, who had been appointed to temporarily fill the seat left vacant by Jeff Sessions, because he thought Moore would be unable to win a general election.

Thirty minutes later, a tweet from Cooper's account called Trump a "pathetic loser."

CNN and Cooper responded to say the account was hacked. The network said it was working to secure the account.

Cooper said in his own Tweet that he had "not sent a tweet in days or replied to any tweets."

Earlier in 2017, Anderson Cooper told Stephen Colbert he had "muted" Trump on Twitter.
