Continetti: Party of Trump Willing to Pay 'Considerable' Price to Disrupt D.C.

October 13, 2017

Washington Free Beacon editor Matthew Continetti said Friday the "party of Trump" has not yet reached the limit of what it is willing to do to disrupt Washington, D.C.

MSNBC host Chuck Todd asked the "MTP Daily" panel why troubling ethical charges against Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore are leaving his supporters unfazed.

"I think the price that the members of the party of Trump are willing to pay to fundamentally disrupt and even destroy Washington, D.C. is considerable," Continetti said. "They are willing to tolerate quite a bit of personal baggage in order to get what they want."

"When does the price get too high?" Todd asked.

"We haven’t seen it yet," Continetti replied.

Moore defeated Republican Sen. Luther Strange (Ala.) during a primary runoff last month, and he embraced Trump's agenda even though he did not receive the president's endorsement. Strange was backed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.), while Moore had the support of former White House adviser Steve Bannon.

Since the runoff, it has been revealed Moore was guaranteed $180,000 a year for part-time charity work in an undisclosed deal.

Todd closed out the segment by reiterating Continetti’s point.

"The price people are willing to pay to disrupt this town, we have yet to see the limit," he said.
