Scarborough Pushes Back on Brzezinski's Claim That Pence Hiring a Lawyer Is Unusual

MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski got into an argument with co-host Joe Scarborough on Friday over Vice President Mike Pence's decision to hire a lawyer for the Russia investigation, saying, "We shouldn't pretend this is normal."

Scarborough defended Pence on "Morning Joe," arguing, "Everybody in Washington D.C. that's been through this process that wasn't close to being guilty hired a lawyer. It's what you do."

"When people see this, the media shouldn't report this as if it's the beginning of the end," Scarborough added.

"We also shouldn't pretend this is normal," Brzezinski said. "Just saying. The vice president hired a lawyer. Mark Halperin, please."

"No, no, no, no," Scarborough protested. "That's the shrillness."

"I'm trying to level you out, you're acting like you just scratched yourself," Brzezinski responded.

"There were a lot of innocent people in the Clinton administration that paid a lot of legal bills. There were a lot of innocent people in the Bush administration that paid a lot of legal bills. They had to do it," Scarborough said.
