Sen. Mark Warner (D., Va.) said Sunday there is no "smoking gun at this point" in the investigation into allegations of collusion between Russia and President Donald Trump's campaign.
CNN's Jake Tapper asked the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee whether he had seen hard evidence to that effect.
"There is a lot of smoke," he said. "We have no smoking gun at this point, but there is a lot of smoke."
Warner said he would have questions this week for former FBI Director James Comey, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats and National Security Agency director Mike Rogers about conversations Trump may have had with them about downplaying the Russia investigation.
Warner also made the remark on CBS program "Face The Nation."
"There's a lot of smoke. We have no smoking gun," he said.
