Rep. Maxine Waters (D., Calif.) said on Tuesday that she never called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, but her past statements show that is not the case.
"I have not called for impeachment," Waters told MSNBC's Craig Melvin.
"You said I'm going to fight every day until he's impeached! That's what you tweeted," Melvin said.
"Yeah, but here's what I've said," Waters responded. "I've said that we need the information. We need to connect the dots. We need the facts in order to do the impeachment, and I'm going to work every day to try and help get those facts and to reveal them to the republic, to our public, until of course impeachment [has] taken place."
Since Trump was sworn in as president, Waters has repeatedly stated that she wouldn't work with Trump and that her goal is to lead him into impeachment.
In a February interview with "Cheddar," Waters said her greatest desire was to impeach the president.
"I hope he’s not there for four years. I hope that this man and who he is, the way that he has defined himself, the way that he is acting — I am hoping that we are able to reveal all of this. And my greatest desire is to lead him right into impeachment."
Waters said the FBI investigation into a possible collusion between Russian government officials and the Trump campaign will lead to Trump's impeachment.
"These investigations have got to show the connection and prove that collusion, because, as for me, I think it leads to impeachment and I believe that and that's what I'm paying attention to," Waters said.
Over the weekend, Waters spoke at a "tax march" in Washington, D.C. where she led protesters in a "impeach 45" chant.
Waters also frequently tweets out her desire to impeach Trump.

The President is a liar, his actions are contemptible, & I'm going to fight everyday until he's impeached.
