MSNBC reporter Kristen Welker called Hillary Clinton's secret server an "ongoing political problem" for the Democratic presidential candidate on Wednesday.
Clinton's use of a private server while secretary of state has been a staple issue negatively affecting her campaign from the start. The proof is visible in her declining poll numbers in Iowa and New Hampshire.
During a segment with MSNBC anchor Tamron Hall, Welker said, "[Clinton's] response is what we have heard from them so many times when there's a new revelation about her emails being classified after the fact."
"They stress the fact that ... at the time that these emails were exchanged there was no information that was designated as classified, they say that ... designation was given after the fact and there was no wrongdoing," Welker said.
On Monday, Hall said, it was revealed that "some of Clintons emails were determined to be top secret, SAP, meaning Special Access Programs. It is a designation that includes some of the most closely guarded U.S. intelligence secrets."
"Again, the campaign dealing with yet another one of these headlines about her emails at a time when Bernie Sanders is surging," Welker said.
Welker said that while campaigning, "Bill Clinton has kept his argument to stressing Secretary Clinton's qualifications but today we saw something different. Today he took hard aim, direct aim at Bernie Sanders."
According to a poll from Monmouth University, Sanders is up 11 points in the Democratic Presidential Primary since December.
