Soldiers Who Lost Their Wedding Venues So Obama Can Golf Should Shut Up

The latest nontroversy circulating on Tea Thuglican Twitter has to do with President Obama "forcing" some soldiers to "move" their "wedding" so he could "play a round of golf." Where to start with this silliness?

First off, how do we even know that the president knew about the wedding ahead of time? Sure, the captains had invited the president to the ceremony. But he probably never even saw that invitation. And even if he had, he's the leader of the free world. You think he'd remember that some nobody invited him to their wedding, or what golf course that nobody was getting married on? Come on.

Secondly, the soldiers only have themselves to blame for this. Shockingly, none of the Rethuglicans losing their mind about this story bothered to read this part of the story:

Still, anyone planning an event at the course when the president may be in town is warned about the potential for last-minute shuffling, said Naile Brennan, manager of K Bay Catering, which was handling logistics for the wedding. Brennan said they had other sites ready to go, and the couple ended up choosing the lush, green lawn near the home of Colonel Eric Schaefer, the commanding officer of the base, which offers an elevated view near the 16th hole.

If you books your wedding day here, you takes your chances! It's not the president's fault that these people didn't read the fine print. What does the most important day of their lives have on the president's desire to take in 18 holes anyway? He's got a very hard job; he needs to relax.

And, finally, let's just consider that these soldiers are members of the military. You know who their boss is? That's right: Barack Obama. Have we forgotten that he's the commander in chief? That he can literally order them to do anything he wants? That he could, if he so desired, order them to come, like, hold his umbrella while he's on the golf course, wedding day or no wedding day? I thought Republicans were cool with the chain of command. I thought they wanted soldiers to respect their superiors. I thought that following orders was extremely important to them. I guess I was wrong. I guess conservatives want anarchy.

Or maybe they just hate Barack Obama because he's the first black president and will use any silly little thing to attack him. I don't know, it's probably one of the two.
