Chuck Todd: Each Day Ebola and Islamic State Stay in the News 'It Hurts Democrats'

October 24, 2014

Meet the Press host Chuck Todd said the fact that Ebola and the Islamic State are in the news "hurts Democrats" with less than two weeks until the midterm elections.

"Every day that Ebola or ISIS is in the news in these last ten days, I can tell you, dogging the campaigns on both sides," Todd said. "They really do think that actually hurts the Democrats."

Todd said although Republican takeover of the Senate was not yet a "done deal," Democrats are fighting an uphill battle and struggling to push an anti-GOP narrative amid health and national security crises.

"Democrats are trying to have a closing argument in these senate races, making the case that the Republicans too extreme on issues important to women or too extreme on domestic issues, but they can't," Todd said. "If they can't break through with that and Ebola and ISIS are dominating the headlines, it may put Republicans in a better position."
