David Axelrod: 'A Mistake' For Obama To Admit His Policies Are On The Ballot In November

One of President Obama's closest confidants said Sunday that the president erred in his comment last week that Republicans have pounced on. On NBC's Meet The Press, former Obama adviser David Axelrod said it was "a mistake" for President Obama to say his policies were "on the ballot" in the 2014 midterm elections.

Axelrod attempted to contextualize Obama's comments delivered in a speech at Northwestern University on Thursday, during which Obama said "I'm not on the ballot this fall, but make no mistake--these policies are on the ballot."

"I would not have put that line in there," Axelrod said. "It was a mistake."

Republicans have seized on Obama's comments as evidence against Democratic candidates who are desperately trying to distance themselves from Obama's policies ahead of the November 4 elections.
