Rep. Paul Ryan criticized sharply President Obama's handling of the unrest in the Middle East, comparing it to the Iranian hostage crisis, during a campaign stop in Lima, Ohio Monday.
"I mean, turn on the TV and it reminds you of 1979 Tehran but they're burning our flags in capitals all around the world. They're storming our embassies," Ryan said.
Protests have broken out in more than 15 countries since the beginning of September, and have included attacks on U.S. embassies, anti-American chants, flag burnings, and violence.
Administration officials have faced increasing scrutiny from the media about the attack the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, as well as the president's lack of meetings with foreign leaders while attending the United Nations General Assembly this week.
