Seeing evil turn to ash in a smoldering plume of justice gives every self-respecting American a thrill up his leg. It's like what Chris Matthews felt watching Barack Hussein Obama, but for non-freaks.
And in the pantheon of American firepower, few things this year aroused our excitement as much as Bunker Busters—specifically the 14 Big and Beautiful ones Donald Trump dropped over Iran’s nuclear facilities in June in an orgy of destruction. The ramifications are eye-opening.
The bomb was designed to thrust into even the most hardened of targets. But for 15 years, presidents of both parties teased us as the operationally capable Busters lay in wait. It was not until Trump finally gave the order that we could feel the deep impact of this powerfully penetrating force against the ayatollah’s unyielding fortifications.
As the man who ordered the strike, cementing his legacy and giving us the spasms of ecstasy we experienced watching an explosion of patriotism fill the mullahs’ cavern at Fordow, Trump must also share in this honor. Only he was capable of surprising his foes with this unexpected delivery through Fordow’s backdoor tunnels (after carefully probing for weaknesses). The massive payload left Iran’s leaders sore, vulnerable, and on the edge of their seats—waiting for the next attack.
And though certain misbegotten cowards—most notably a Qatari property owner who shall remain nameless—warned of thousands dead and urged the United States to get down on its knees, the day belonged to patriots.
Today, a new Middle East is dawning, with the enemies of freedom and civilization in full retreat. To that, we all owe a great debt to the Big, Beautiful Bunker Busters—Washington Free Beacon Men of the Year.
