WATCH: Biden Struggles To Remember Hamas's Name

February 6, 2024

President Joe Biden appeared to forget the name of the Hamas terrorist group on Tuesday while answering a reporter’s question about negotiations over a possible hostage deal between Israel and Hamas.

"There is some movement, and I don’t wanna, I don't wanna, let me be choose my words—there's some movement," Biden said. "There's been a response from the, uh, there's been a response from the opposition, but um…"

A reporter in the audience could be heard saying "Hamas," to which the 81-year-old president responded, "Yes, I’m sorry. From Hamas."

Biden, America’s oldest president ever, made the gaffe after delivering a speech advocating for the Emergency National Security Supplemental Appropriations Act, a border security bill recently negotiated in the Democratic-led Senate. House speaker Mike Johnson (R.) condemned the bill, claiming that it "won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created."

Biden's remarks came just two days after he said during a campaign speech in Las Vegas that he confused French president Emmanuel Macron with former French leader François Mitterand, who died in 1996.

Polls have shown that Americans overwhelmingly believe Biden is too old for a second presidential term. An Associated Press poll and a Wall Street Journal poll last summer revealed that more than 70 percent of American voters found the president too old to serve again.
