NBC Highlights Lack of Transparency From Hillary Clinton

June 26, 2015

On Thursday, the State Department confirmed it was missing all or part of 15 emails from Hillary Clinton that had been turned over by longtime confidant Sidney Blumenthal. Blumenthal recently answered questions from the House Select Committee on Benghazi on the information that he provided to Clinton during her time as secretary of state. Clinton later sent that information to members of her staff and the State Department.

The Obama administration barred Blumenthal from working at the State Department during that same time.

Clinton has been adamant about having the 55,000 pages of email released to public, saying she wants them out more than anyone else. Clinton has come under scrutiny about her use of a personal email and private server during her time as secretary of state. A majority of Americans are saying they do not find Clinton honest and straightforward, in a Wall Street Journal/ NBC News Poll.

The only statement the Clinton campaign has put out is that Clinton has turned over 55,000 pages of emails. Select Chairman Trey Gowdy (R., S.C.) called the revelation about the missing emails "significant and troubling."
