The head of a Democratic Super PAC under federal investigation for allegedly recording a private campaign strategy session at Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s offices visited the White House late last year, public records show.
Shawn Reilly, one of two Progress Kentucky employees allegedly responsible for the recording, "met with White House officials on Dec. 5, just days before his organization Progress Kentucky began a messaging blitzkrieg against the Republican leader," according to BuzzFeed’s John Stanton.
Reilly is at the center of what McConnell’s campaign alleges is a coordinated effort to take down the Kentucky senator, who is up for reelection next year.
The leftwing Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington has called for an official investigation into McConnell’s campaign activities based on Progress Kentucky’s recording.
BuzzFeed reports:
The White House visitors log, showing Reilly met with administration officials Dec. 5th, appears to have been signed in by Victoria McCullough, a staff assistant to Obama confidante Valerie Jarrett.
According to Reilly's twitter feed, his trip to Washington included stops at the White House to discuss the fiscal cliff and a meeting at the Center for American Progress, a left leaning think tank.
Reilly also tweeted a picture of what he said was his meeting inside the White House's office complex.
According to the White House website, McCullough is "responsible for the promotion of events across federal agencies and various constituencies" using Twitter, blogs and other forms of social media. McCullough is also the "liaison to the arts and culture community."
Louisville, Ky., NPR host Phillip Bailey also reported on Wednesday that Reilly visited the Kentucky governor’s mansion in September 2012.
In Sept '12, @smarkreilly said: "We gathered last week at the governor’s mansion and everybody there was extremely supportive of (#Obama),"

"(@govstevebeshear) himself was extremely ecstatic to be supporting President Obama his time around," @smarkreilly told @wfplnews last year.

This all occurred before @progressky was founded. But shows @smarkreilly wasn't a "nobody" in #Kentucky Democratic circles.
