The idea that President Trump tweeted attacks at London Mayor Sadiq Khan because he is a Muslim is "utterly ridiculous," White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders said Monday.
"There are going to be folks who are going to ask the question, was the president attacking the Mayor of London because he's Muslim?" CNN reporter Jim Acosta asked.
"Not at all," Sanders said. "I think to suggest something like that is utterly ridiculous."
Trump first criticized Khan over an out-of-context quote in response to Saturday's terror attack.
"You will see an increased police presence today, including armed officers and uniformed officers," Khan said Sunday. "There is no reason to be alarmed by this."
However, Trump's tweet implied Khan's use of the words "no reason to be alarmed" was in response to the carnage wrought by the terrorists.
At least 7 dead and 48 wounded in terror attack and Mayor of London says there is "no reason to be alarmed!"

Trump followed up on Monday with another attack on Khan and the media.
Pathetic excuse by London Mayor Sadiq Khan who had to think fast on his "no reason to be alarmed" statement. MSM is working hard to sell it!
