President Donald Trump continued taunting House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) in an interview with Ainsley Earhardt on "Fox and Friends."
"It would be a very, very sad day for Republicans if she steps down," Trump said about Pelosi. "I'd be very very disappointed if she did."
"I'd like to keep her right where she is because our record is extraordinary against her," he added. "But we'll see what happens."
Trump gave the interview Thursday to be shown Friday morning on Fox NEws. He spoke along with First Lady Melania Trump, who has moved into the White House with their 11-year-old son Barron.
Trump had mocked Pelosi on Twitter on Thursday morning, writing that her Democratic leadership helps Republicans.

Pelosi responded to Trump's comment in a press conference Thursday, saying that she is "worth the trouble" for Democrats.
"I don't think members of our party should pick up the line of the Republicans," she said. "We don't agonize, we organize."
Still, many Democratic representatives and liberal commentators have called for Pelosi to step down from her leadership post.
Kathleen Rice (D., N.Y.) called for leadership change and said, "[Pelosi's] time has come and gone."
Rep. Filemon Vela (D., Texas) said, "I think you'd have to be an idiot to think we could win the House with Pelosi at the top."
Pelosi was speaker of the House when Democrats passed the Affordable Care Act. She took the speakers' gavel after a Democratic wave in 2006, and her leadership lasted until Republicans took the House back in the 2010 midterm elections.
