Ron Fournier: Hillary Clinton Should Be Sweating Because Most Americans Don't Trust Her

May 28, 2015

National Journal senior political columnist Ron Fournier said Thursday that the Clintons are, or at least should be, worried about Americans’ perception of their honesty.

"She is sweating, or at least she should be sweating," Fournier said. "You look inside that poll—53 percent of Americans don't trust her. Now, with that kind of number either you're not going to get elected, or even if you do get elected, you're not going to be able to lead."

Fournier has covered the Clintons for decades, since their time in Arkansas. He says he admires their work, but has been a vocal critic of Clinton’s secrecy and lack of transparency this cycle. He called for Clinton to be more straightforward with the media and, more importantly, voters.

"She hasn’t been honest with the American public, so the American public isn’t trusting her right now."
