MSNBC's Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski went after Hillary Clinton for her response to Clinton Foundation scandals Friday, calling her behavior "sneaky" and adding questions "scream out" about the group's accepting of money from foreign governments and pay-for-play allegations while she ran the State Department.
"My question is for our viewers. Why is it okay that while Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State there were all these trades going on and ulterior motives and even TV personalities giving money?" she asked.
Clinton's husband, former president Bill Clinton, said Thursday that people potentially had ulterior motives when they donated to the Clinton Foundation, a sentiment also expressed by ABC anchor and former Clinton communications flack George Stephanopoulos. Stephanopoulos himself donated to the organization without disclosing the conflict of interest to viewers. Brzezinski said the use of the former president to address the questions about the foundation rather than Hillary felt "sneaky."
"I don't understand how Bill Clinton can get on stage and say maybe some people had ulterior motives and we're going to just be like okay, let's cover Marco Rubio's driveway," she said, referring to the New York Times' stories on Rubio's finances.
"There's no good answer," said host Joe Scarborough. "That's why Hillary has been on lockdown and in bubble wrap for the last three months."
Those aren't her only problems going back to State. Huffington Post reporter Sam Stein said even Clinton supporters would find a problem with Clinton's deleted emails from the private server she used.
Brzezinski, a liberal who openly declared Friday she wants a Democrat to win and to see a first woman president, has expressed consistent frustration with Clinton.
