Kellyanne Conway Cites WFB Audio of Clinton Bragging About Defending Rapist

December 21, 2016

Kellyanne Conway, a senior adviser to President-elect Donald Trump, on Tuesday cited audio obtained exclusively by the Washington Free Beacon that showed Hillary Clinton bragging about getting a man accused of raping a child off on a lesser criminal charge.

Conway spoke with Fox News' Bill Hemmer on his podcast, "Hemmer Time," and said Clinton had trouble in the 2016 presidential debates against Trump in part because women who have accused her husband of sexual abuse attended the debates.

Trump's former campaign manager then referenced the audio of Clinton from the early 1980s in which she suggested that she knew the man on trial who she was defending was guilty of raping a child and laughed about the case. The Free Beacon first reported the story in June 2014.

"Hillary Clinton defended that rapist and got him a plea deal and then laughed about the Polygraph test and the evidence –," Conway said.

"To this day, you believe that had an effect on her performance?" Hemmer asked.

"I know it did," Conway said. "Because they were, listen, this is somebody who's very scripted and when you're running against the most unscripted X factor to ever explode onto the political scene, at least in our lifetimes, Bill."
